• Cutie and the Boxer rocks Sundance and Tribeca! The new feature documentary, directed by Zachary Heinzerling and edited by David Teague, is currently playing the festival circuit to great acclaim. Cutie won the U.S. Documentary Directing award at Sundance and was picked up by the Weinstein’s Radius-TWC. The film has received rave reviews, including an “A” rating from IndieWire.

• “Mondays at Racine” is Oscar Nominated in 2013! The new documentary was edited by David Teague. He also co-shot it with director Cynthia Wade. See the official web page for more.

• The Brooklyn Vitagraph Company helped produce a short video for Restore Red Hook, a fund to help the local businesses of Red Hook, Brooklyn, that were devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Donate here!

• The Iran Job, a new documentary by Till Schauder and Sara Nodjoumi, had its world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2012 and is now playing festivals to great acclaim all over the world. This fascinating new film about an American basketball player in Iran was edited by David Teague.

• “Growing Hope Against Hunger” wins a 2012 Primetime Emmy! The Sesame Street special was edited by David Teague.

• Brooklyn Vitagraph co-presented a complete retrospective of British filmmaker John Samson at Anthology Film Archives in November 2011. Virtually unknown in the United States, Samson was a documentary pioneer who tackled subjects both taboo and banal. More info HERE. Review of the program HERE.

• “SUN COME UP” was nominated for a 2011 Oscar! The film by Jennifer Redfearn and Tim Metzger was edited by Brooklyn Vitagraph’s David Teague.

• David recently wrapped editing LEH WI TOK, a new documentary about how radio is inspiring democracy in Sierra Leone.

• Flicker NYC (2001-2011), New York’s festival of new Super 8mm films, ended a decade of events with a special and final 10th Anniversary show. Flicker NYC was founded in 2001 by David Teague and held over 20 screenings at the Knitting Factory, the Brooklyn Lyceum, and Southpaw. The festival screened over 150 Super 8 films, and supported numerous local Super 8 projects with grants. A more in depth look at Flicker NYC can be found at the Flicker NYC website.

• OUR HOUSE - WORLD PREMIERE AT HOT DOCS 2010. The Brooklyn Vitagraph Company co-produced this new feature documentary about an unorthodox homeless shelter run by Christian squatters also won the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the DeadCENTER Festival 2010 and screened in June at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. • Cynthia Wade’s new documentary “BORN SWEET” had its world premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival! Brooklyn Vitagraph’s David Teague edited the film and was one of the lead cinematographers. The Sundance shorts jury awarded “Born Sweet” an Honorable Mention in Short Filmmaking and the film has gone on to win six other awards.

• The official website for David Teague’s new documentary “INTIFADA NYC” is online here. “Intifada NYC” played festivals in 2009 (including the Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival) and will be seen internationally on television in 2010.

• “Love Suicides” – David Teague’s underground Super 8 feature – was featured at the Cambridge Super 8 Film Festival in the UK and at the Szeged Super 8 Festival in Hungary.

 

Brooklyn Vitagraph? The Brooklyn Vitagraph (vie-ta-graf) Company takes it name from Brooklyn’s silent film era Vitagraph Studios (1906 – 1925). The old Vitagraph Studios produced films on Avenue M in Midwood, Brooklyn, and the original smoke stack still shows the Vitagraph name.
